Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope you had a safe and enjoyable summer…

Join Us, Get Involved, Make A Difference!

As school activity ramps up, so does the Clemens Mill Public School Council. On Wednesday September 17th, we will kick off School Council meetings for the 2008-2009 school year by electing a new council. Nominations are sought for:
(20) Parent Representatives
(1) Chair
(1) Co-Chair
(1) Volunteer Coordinator
(1) Treasurer
(1) Secretary

The primary roles of the School Council are to facilitate student achievement and to support school priority setting. We do this by working closely with school administration and staff, and supporting and delivering value-added activities and programs aimed at students and parents. School Council is truly a rewarding process, one that all parents are encouraged to participate in. New to Clemens Mill? It’s a great way to get to know your kids’ school

2007-2008 – A Year of Many Accomplishments
2007-2008 proved to be a very productive year for School Council. Thanks to parents’ generous support of fundraising activities like the Magazine Campaign, the Treasures Book™, Special Lunches and the Zehrs Save-A-Tape™, School Council was able to fund a large number of programs and initiatives. But it’s also because many people – busy parents like yourselves – volunteered time and effort to develop and deliver these programs.
In addition to the aforementioned fundraising programs, School Council was directly involved in the funding, delivery or purchase of:
• Guest speakers for the students
• Seminars for parents
• Alphasmart Neo™ minicomputers
• Guided reading tables
• 8th grade yearbook production
• Science kits
• Resource books and novel sets
• Turn off TV week
• Clemensmill.ca
• Family BBQ
• … and more!

2008-2009 – An Even Bigger Year Ahead
2008-2009 is expected to be equally busy year for School Council – if not more. We will build on last year’s successes (Family BBQ), continue to deliver many of the “old favourites” (Magazine Campaign, Treasures Book™, Seminars for parents) and launch exciting new programs (like the Lunch Lady™ Healthy Choices program). But remember - the more parents that participate in School Council, the more programs we can develop and deliver for both students and parents.

Thanks For Your Continued Support!
Again, we wish to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the many individuals who contributed to the success of School Council in 2007-2008. We hope many of you will attend the upcoming school council elections, and actively participate in School Council this year. All told, School Council provides a terrific means of getting involved in your children’s school life, getting to know people in and out of the school, and having fun while doing it!

Your 2007-2008 School Council.
